PURPOSE

1. To serve the Bishop of the Diocese.

2. To work in solidarity with the Priests of the Diocese in building up Catholic Christian values.

3. To increase the visibility of the Knights of Columbus within the Diocese.

4. To increase amongst the Councils a greater sense of belonging to the Diocesan Church.

5. To develop and maintain strong ties with the individual parishes within the Diocese.

6. To elect the delegate to the Supreme Convention based upon regional boundaries where applicable.

7. To conduct seminars, if it is deemed advisable.

8. To enhance the order by being fraternal, charitable, united and patriotic.

9. To keep Councils informed of the dates that Degrees are to be held with the Diocese.

 

1. BOUNDARY

The boundaries of each Diocesan Association shall be identical to the boundary of the Diocese unless otherwise altered by the State Deputy after consulting with the Bishop of the Diocese.

2. ZONES

Zones have been created within those Diocese wherein a sizeable number of Councils exist. Dioceses with Zones are as follows:

Toronto - Three Zones (East, West and North)

London - Two Zones (East and West)

3. OFFICERS

A. Elected

These are to be elected in each Zone or Diocese for a one year term at the final meeting of the fraternal year. No individual shall serve more than three consecutive years in the same position.

Terms of office will be from July 1st to June 30th of the following calender year.

President: Must be a current voting member.

Treasurer: Must be a current voting member.

Secretary: Must be a current the voting member. If it is so desired, Secretary may be appointed rather than elected.

B. Appointed

Chaplain: Shall be appointed by the Diocesan Bishop.

Chairman: In Dioceses that are broken into zones, a Diocesan Chairman shall be appointed annually by the State Deputy. The Chairman will report to and be responsible to the State Board.

4. VOTING MEMBERS

Voting members of the Association shall be the current District Deputies, Grand Knights, Deputy Grand Knights and the immediate Past Grand Knights from within the Diocesan/Zone boundaries. If the immediate Past Grand Knight is not available, any Past Grand Knight of the Council may be so designated for the year. In the absence of a voting member(s) from a Council, the Grand Knight will be allowed the privilege of the extra votes. Each Council is entitled to three (3) votes.

5. ATTENDEES AT DIOCESAN ASSOCIATION MEETINGS

Along with those members specified in 3a, 3b and 4, the following members should attend and participate in the Diocesan Association Meetings:

Regional Basketball Free Throw Chairman
Diocesan Substance Abuse Poster Chairman
Chief Counsellors
Council Officers and Chairmen
District Wardens
Faithful Navigators
Financial Secretaries
Insurance Agents

6. MEETINGS

A minimum of two meetings are to be held each year - others may beheld as deemed necessary.

The zones of the Diocesan full Association shall only meet as a of Diocesan Association at the call the State Appointed Chairman.

At a meeting to be held early in the new fraternal year:

1) A Delegate to the Supreme Convention is to be elected as outlined in the Regional Divisions.

2) The Ontario State Deputy, the State Secretary, the State appointed Diocesan Chairman and the State Office are to be given a copy of the Minutes and agendas of all meetings, along with and account of all funds on hand.

3) An Annual Audit and Fraternal Survey are to be completed on forms supplied by the State Office, and submitted to the State Office for distribution.

7. COUNCIL ASSESSMENTS

These are to be agreed upon at the first meeting. The following is a suggested breakdown only. Membership is based on the July 1st Supreme Council printout.

0 to 200 members - $33;
201 to 400 members - $66;
401 members and over - $99.

The amount agreed upon by the Delegates are to be paid to the Secretary/Treasurer to cover expenses of the Association. An accounting is to be made to the membership and the State Deputy.
